ShopRates helps visitors learn about financing and may introduce them to independent providers. We may be paid by providers when a visitor takes certain actions. Those relationships can affect which providers appear on our site or receive an introduction. This page explains our role, compensation and limits of our coverage.

Our role

ShopRates publishes information about financing options and may connect visitors with independent financing providers. For the business financing paths described here, ShopRates does not itself make credit decisions, issue offers or fund financing. Each provider decides whether to review an inquiry, request more information, make an offer and set its terms.

How ShopRates may earn compensation

ShopRates may receive compensation from a provider or another partner when a visitor submits an inquiry, is introduced to a provider, completes an application or enters into a financing agreement. The event that triggers payment and the amount can vary by arrangement and product.

A provider relationship may create an incentive to show or introduce participating providers. Unless expressly stated at the point of an offer, do not assume that ShopRates evaluated every provider in the market or that an option shown has the lowest overall cost.

Which providers and options appear

The providers and products available through ShopRates may vary by location, business profile, use of funds and partner participation. Some providers and products are not part of our network. An introduction is not a promise that a provider will approve you or offer any particular amount, rate or repayment schedule. You may compare offers from other sources as well.

How placement and ordering work

If a page displays providers, recommended options or search results, its placement may depend on factors such as the visitor’s stated needs, geographic or product availability, provider criteria and commercial relationships.

ShopRates does not represent that an option shown is the best or cheapest for you solely because it appears first. Compare the cash delivered, fees, payment schedule, total obligation, collateral and guarantees in each written offer.

What happens after an introduction

When you choose to continue, ShopRates may transmit the information you provide to one or more participating providers or partners to respond to your inquiry, subject to the notices and choices shown at that point. A provider may contact you, request documents or conduct its own review. Before submitting, read the adjacent disclosure identifying the intended recipients or categories and how your information will be used.

Your costs and comparison choices

A referral does not mean financing is free. Providers may charge interest, fees, discount amounts or other costs according to the product and written agreement. ShopRates compensation is separate from the provider’s contractual financing terms unless the specific transaction documents state otherwise. Ask the provider for complete written terms and compare alternatives before accepting financing.

Mortgage and government program note

This disclosure describes the business financing referral path only. If you are viewing a residential mortgage, refinance, home equity or other consumer real estate financing page, the responsible licensed entity and applicable disclosures for that product must be identified in that flow. ShopRates does not claim a right to receive mortgage referral fees through this page.
